Preparing your surface is the most boring part of painting.
You just want to get that colour on so you can stand back and admire your newly painted room.
STOP
Whilst your painting technique is very important, the final product will end up looking messy and patchy if the surface is not prepped correctly. Fix those minor holes, sand and clean down the surface. Trust me, the time you take to prep correctly will be rewarded 10 fold in the finished product.
What your actually painting plays a big part in answering this question.
As a guide, a feature wall will need approximately 2 litres of paint and a basic 3x3mtr bedroom will need around 4 litres of paint.
It’s always a good idea to have a rough idea of the size of the area that you are wanting to paint before you go into your local paint store.
The friendly team will be able to help with paint quantities using your measurements as a guide. Keep in mind that if you’re painting a more intense colour it may require an extra coat.
Not all bathrooms are floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall tiles.
Bathrooms still need to be painted. Whether you choose a vibrant colour or shade of white, the paint you use needs to be specific in helping to reduce mould growth and be great for high moisture areas.
Especially in a well loved home.
Smudges and spills are going to be inevitable, but – they’re also fixable.
If it happens to your newly painted walls, act quickly. Use a damp cloth to wipe away those smudges or splashes or crayon drawings immediately after they happen. Don’t let them sit there and ‘sink in’ to your paint.
If you’re purchasing top quality paint then you need top quality tools to match. Ever seen a top quality chef with a blunt knife?
The same goes for a good professional painter. He realises that the difference between an okay finish and a perfect finish is in the quality of his tools.
Good quality brushes and rollers will improve the appearance and finish of your work, it will also prevent unwanted brush hairs ending up in your finished paint work.
Speak with your local paint supply store about the type of brush and roller that you will need for your specific project.
